GASO Summer Championships

This past weekend, our Texas Mayhem 2029 squad brought fire and fight to the GASO Summer Championships in Dallas. Competing against some of the toughest teams in the region, our 8th-grade boys left it all on the floor, showing grit, chemistry, and a relentless commitment to team basketball.

🔥 Standout Performances

  • Scotty continued to turn heads with his relentless attack mentality, driving into the lane with intensity and purpose every possession. His energy set the tone all weekend.

  • Luke was a two-way monster — dominating the glass and knocking down multiple threes to stretch the floor. His inside-out versatility was a problem for opponents.

  • Samuel was lethal from beyond the arc, sinking spot-up 3s with calm consistency.

  • Liam added a different flavor to the backcourt, shredding through the paint and embracing contact like a seasoned vet.

  • Jeremiah made his mark on the defensive end, locking down key matchups and flying around in the 2-3 zone. Despite a few miscues offensively, his effort never wavered.

  • Corbin, new to the squad, made an immediate impact by cleaning up rebounds and battling in the paint.

  • Carter, playing up from 7th grade, brought non-stop hustle and was a spark plug off the bench, especially in Game 1.

  • Mitchell stayed true to form, pro-hopping his way to buckets and remaining a consistent offensive threat through the weekend.

  • Jayden terrorized the other team defensively. He remains our most consistant player.

💪 Defensive Identity

The boys leaned heavily into our Syracuse-style 2-3 zone and switched to lock-left man-to-man defense when needed. They embraced the grind, running the floor and defending hard every possession. They may have fallen short by 2 points to ProSkills in their final game, but no one questioned their heart.

Players walked off the court exhausted, committed, and better than when they arrived.

📦 What’s Next?

Next stop: Nationals in Arkansas.

This team has momentum, chemistry, and hunger. With continued development and a few tweaks, they’re ready to make noise on the national stage. Stay tuned for updates as Texas Mayhem 2029 sets its sights on Arkansas.
